HIGHLIGHTS | Performances | Variety Show and Mabuhay Performers

The variety show was started in 1995 by Marfelita Felix in an effort to present the talents of those in our Filipino Community, especially the youth. Every year, the variety show showcases our rich Filipino culture in the form of traditional Folk Dancing, Singing, fashion, dramatic interpretation and pageantry. In the past, the variety show has showcased established artists such as Bridget Hermano, Timmy Pavino & Gaby Borromeo.
For the last two years, Marfelita has been joined by her daughter Charmaine to expand the variety show to include performers such as Mabuhay performers, FASA's SAYAW, Barangay Dance group of Auburn, Eva Sabiniano, Manette Paragas, Cece Cabading, IDIC Young Once, FASA II Men, & FACES Dance group.

The Mabuhay Performers is composed of children of Filipino heritage from ages three to eighteen devoting their free time in making the Filipino culture alive by showcasing their talents through folk dances and fashion shows. The performers take you back in time with their dances, costumes and childlike innocence.
This group was born by mere accident. More than ten years ago, the director, Ms. Marfelita Unite Felix, first taught only a few very young children a folk dance to be presented at a wedding reception. The talents and interests shown by these youngsters were evident to her. She envisioned an opportunity to promote and celebrate the richness of the Filipino culture, help the children utilize their free time productively, help develop their self-confidence and at the same time offer pleasure and entertainment to the public. She knew how much patience and perseverance.
She first taught dances to family members' children. After every performance, the group would receive compliments and appreciation. Children in the audience would approach her to join the group. The youth's eagerness and the pride she saw in their faces made way to the birth of the "Mabuhay Performers" in April of 1995.
The group had performed gratis at retirement homes, schools, establishments and different functions at PCS Seafair Pageant, Pagdiriwang Festival, Pista sa Nayon, weddings, banquets, balls and a variety of multi-cultural events. Every performance brought appreciation of these children's resiliency to assimilate in the culture that runs in their blood and the culture they were born into. Their versatility attests to the fact that East can meet West and celebrate the differences. Witin this group, youngsters moved on to become school scholars and youth leaders. Once again, they have proven that they are not only the leaders of the future – they are also a reflection of their heritage, the Mabuhay Performers!
This three-hour showcase is entertainment at its best. Watch the performers at the Center House Stage on June 4th from 2 to 5 pm.
